About the team

Join the dynamic Finance team at Wakam, where we're the driving force behind strategic financial decision-making and operational excellence. Safeguards Wakam's financial health through strategic fiscal management, budgeting, and financial reporting.

The Finance team plays a crucial role in supporting the company's growth objectives, from financial planning and analysis to risk management and compliance, we're committed to driving efficiency and maximizing value across the organization.

Ensuring financial accuracy, compliance, and strategic tax planning, the Accounting & Tax team manages Wakam's financial records, prepares reports, and strategizes tax optimization to support the company's financial health.

We are seeking an experienced Reinsurance Technical Accountant to join our Finance team during an exciting period of digital transformation. This role will be instrumental in implementing and optimizing our new operational tool while ensuring excellence in reinsurance accounting operations.

Missions

Financial Operations & Reporting:

  • Process and review quarterly reinsurance accounting entries
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements in accordance with GAAP/STAT requirements
  • Monitor and reconcile reinsurance technical accounts
  • Prepare and share the Statements of Accounts shared with Reinsurers with insightful commentary on findings

System Implementation & Process Optimization:

  • Play a key role in the implementation and testing of the new operational tool
  • Document and optimize reinsurance accounting processes
  • Develop and maintain process documentation and internal controls
  • Contribute to finance transformation projects, including scoping and testing new functionalities

Stakeholder Management:

  • Collaborate with internal departments and external partners
  • Assist and coordinate with internal and external auditors
  • Provide training and guidance on new system functionalities

Analysis & Risk Management:

  • Analyze financial results and assess variances against plans
  • Prepare detailed reports with insightful commentary on findings
  • Identify and implement process improvements

Profile Requirements

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Strong understanding of insurance/reinsurance markets and accounting
  • Experience with financial system implementations and process transformation
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities
  • Fluency (written & spoken) in French & English
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Experience with financial reporting systems and tools
